When Wear and Tear Meet Its Match
In our 15 years in the steel business, we’ve seen countless materials claim to handle abrasive environments. Few actually deliver – but AR500 steel plate consistently exceeds expectations. This isn’t just another high-hardness plate; it’s our answer to the toughest wear challenges in mining, construction, and industrial processing.
We designed AR500 with a 470-530 HBW hardness range specifically to handle severe impact and sliding abrasion. But what sets it apart is the balance. Unlike some ultra-hard plates that become brittle, our AR500 maintains ≥20J impact energy at -20°C, crucial for equipment that faces both wear and cold weather stress. One mining client replaced their standard 400HB chute liners with AR500 and extended service life by 3.5x – that’s real-world validation.
The Technical Edge Behind the Performance
- Tensile strength of 1500-1700 MPa with ≥1200 MPa yield strength means it handles heavy loads without permanent deformation
- We maintain ≥10% elongation (50mm gauge length) – a critical factor that prevents sudden cracking in dynamic applications
- Through our proprietary quenching and tempering process, we achieve uniform hardness throughout the 3-150mm thickness range, even in heavy sections
- The steel’s chemistry includes carefully controlled chromium and nickel additions, improving both wear resistance and weldability (SMAW/GMAW compatible with proper preheat)
Many customers ask about corrosion performance. While not a stainless steel, AR500’s alloy composition provides better acid and abrasive corrosion resistance than standard carbon plates. We’ve seen it outperform in fertilizer processing plants where both wear and mild chemical exposure occur.
From Our Mill to Your Project
Our Shanghai facility specializes in AR steel production, which means we understand the nuances of cutting, drilling, and forming this material. Whether you need:
– Precision plasma-cut bucket wear plates
– Drilled and countersunk liner panels
– Pre-bent truck bed sections
…we handle it with the same quality control we’d demand for our own equipment. Every plate comes with mill test reports (MTRs) and meets ASTM A514, EN 10028-3, and ISO 9328-2 standards.
We’ve built our reputation on solving wear problems others can’t. If you’re dealing with premature wear or need a material that balances hardness and toughness, let’s discuss your application. Our technical team has decades of combined experience specifying AR steels – we’ll help you determine if AR500 is the right fit or if another grade would serve you better. Get in touch with your requirements, and we’ll provide a solution that’s tailored to your actual operating conditions.
